What is important for lithium ion batteries
To increase the life-time of lithium ion batteries, you should be aware of some special features. For it is important to keep not only the depth of discharge but also the final charge voltage significantly lower than the maximum values specified by the manufacturer - meaning close to the nominal voltage of the battery.
Avoid the upper voltage limit of the cell because then processes in the cell, cause irreparable damage and rapid decrease in capacity.
Protected Batteries
We recommend that you always use protected batteries. These have a protection against deep discharge and overcharge, which significantly increases the life of the battery and protects it against damage to the cell.
Some protected batteries have a lenght slightly greater than normal. This is due to built-in electronics which ensure the protective features. We measure the batteries in our assortment ourself and specify correct domensions. These can be found in the data sheet.
